Toyota unveils new bZ4X UK pricing and model range
The headline changes are mostly technical; Toyota says there’s been a “comprehensive revision” of the powertrain, with two battery options (57.7 and 73.1 kWh) now available. New eAxles are in place, as well as the introduction of a battery preconditioning function. The Japanese firm says all this amounts to an increased range of 352 miles for the Design FWD model, which uses the 73.1 kWh battery pack.
Out on the exterior, the bZ4X features a new front bonnet with a light bar, glossy black alloy wheels and arches, plus bi-tone paint options for premium customers. Inside, a full-length dashboard extends the entire length of the cabin and features a 14-inch infotainment display, plus heated front seats/steering wheel and a Blind Spot Monitor. A one-piece panoramic roof option is also available.
In terms of UK pricing, this is being divided between four main trims:
| Trim | Drivetrain | Battery | OTR price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Icon | FWD | 57.7 kWh | £39,995 |
| Design | FWD | 73.1 kWh | £45,795 |
| Excel | FWD | 73.1 kWh | £48,995 |
| Excel | AWD | 73.1 kWh | £51,545 |
As always, there are a few variations between trims. The entry-level ‘Icon’ grade has all the features already mentioned, but with the 57.7 kWh battery, while the Design grade adds the 73.1 kWh battery along with a Panoramic View Monitor, puddle lights and a de-icer. The top-end Excel trim features 20-inch alloy wheels, heated front and rear seats, full synthetic leather upholstery, and a 22kW on-board charger. Customers can specify whether they want a FWD or AWD drivetrain on this trim.
All this follows an announcement by Toyota in August that it was lowering the starting prices of its previous bZ4x models to £36,995, including the £3,750 Electric Car Grant. This ran up until the 30th September, before the company announced the new model year.
