ChargePoint launches next-generation EV charging management platform

ChargePoint has introduced a redesigned software platform intended to manage EV charging operations at any scale. The system supports fleets, CPOs, commercial sites and OEMs, and enables optimisation of mixed hardware, including any OCPP-compliant charging stations.

The platform incorporates AI-driven optimisation that analyses usage patterns, energy supply conditions, charging-station status and vehicle context. It can adjust charging schedules, forecast maintenance requirements and support dynamic, demand-based pricing strategies. According to the company, a waitlist function manages EV charging demand by placing drivers in virtual queues and notifying them when a connector becomes available, with the aim of increasing utilisation at busy sites.

Station activation is integrated with the ChargePoint Installer App to simplify onboarding, including deployments with multiple charger types across multiple locations. ChargePoint explains that operators gain access to monitoring and control functions via pre-configured or custom dashboards, scheduled reports or an AI-supported data assistant.

Pricing tools allow hosts to vary tariffs according to demand, energy prices, congestion or business rules. Dynamic energy management includes real-time load balancing, demand-response integration, support for renewable generation and interaction with utility pricing signals. “Designed to intelligently balance energy distribution, the ChargePoint Platform optimises energy use with the goal to reduce infrastructure costs,” the EV charging solutions provider states.

Moreover, the platform enables plug-and-play management of any OCPP-compliant charger, regardless of manufacturer, allowing operators to onboard, monitor and control mixed hardware fleets. ChargePoint says the cloud-native architecture combines capabilities from its existing charger management and fleet telematics systems, with end-to-end encryption and continuous monitoring. A new user interface provides personalised dashboards, live status views, guided workflows and mobile access, with support for multiple languages and accessibility standards.

“The new ChargePoint Platform is more than just modernised software; it is a catalyst for an electrified future,” declared ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer.
