Charging alliance Spark Alliance renames itself ChargeLeague

The HPC alliance ‘Spark Alliance’, founded by Atlante, Electra, Fastned and Ionity, will operate under the name ‘ChargeLeague’ in future. At its own industry summit, the charging alliance also presented its plans for 2026 and announced that its members intend to extend their existing charging subscriptions to the entire ChargeLeague network in the coming months.

In Munich, the charging alliance recently hosted the WATT 2025 industry summit, which was attended by 70 representatives from across the EV industry. At the event, Atlante, Electra, Fastned and Ionity announced that the alliance is undergoing a rebranding and will operate under the name ‘ChargeLeague’ in future. “This name is clearer for drivers and reflects the shift from initially sparking an idea to delivering tangible, first-of-its-kind products for drivers,” the partners wrote.

However, the aim of the summit was not only to announce the rebranding but also to promote”collaboration and cross-industry innovation to drive practical solutions for accelerating EV adoption.”

At the summit, ChargeLeague members presented their ideas for the 2026 roadmap. Among other things, they want to agree on the definition of reliability, maintenance, equipment and other station details, “to provide the gold standard of quality, trustworthy data to customers and navigation partners.” To make this possible, the use of a new data platform is currently being explored.

Probably the most important item on the agenda for electric car drivers: in the coming months, the four CPOs want to start extending the use of their charging subscriptions to the entire ChargeLeague network. When it was founded in the spring, the charging alliance announced its goal of enabling customers of one provider to charge at all other providers without having to switch apps. However, this has not been possible until now. The first stage of integration was implemented in July, whereby one of the four charging infrastructure operators displays the charging stations of the other alliance members in its app, but charging is not possible via this app.
