Leapmotor A10 debuts in China – Europe to follow soon

Chinese carmaker Leapmotor has unveiled its new A10 model at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Customers can now place pre-orders for the compact BEV, which in its most expensive version is set to cost less than 100,000 yuan (about €12,200). Leapmotor plans to offer the A10 outside China as well, although under a different name.

The new A10, which will go on sale in China in the first half of 2026, carries the brand’s characteristic design language and could almost pass as a smaller C10. As part of the A series, the A10 is one of Leapmotor’s smallest vehicles and roughly matches the dimensions of the BYD Atto 2 (known in China as Yuan Plus). The A10 measures 4.31 metres in length, 1.83 metres in width and 1.68 metres in height. Since the A10 is built on a dedicated electric architecture, it is said to offer an “exceptionally spacious interior.”

At its debut, the manufacturer did not yet reveal all details about the vehicle. Several specifications for the powertrain and battery remain missing. So far, Leapmotor only states that the A10 will achieve a range of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge under the Chinese CLTC standard, and that the battery can charge from 30 to 80 per cent in 16 minutes. Leapmotor does not specify the charging time from 10 to 80 per cent. The EV is fitted with an LFP battery, although the exact energy content has not yet been disclosed.

The company has yet to announce exact prices, although Chinese media expect the base version to come in at under 100,000 yuan (currently around 12,200 euros). The precise structure of the equipment lines is still unknown, but the A10 is not intended to be a stripped-down model despite its pricing. The car features 18-inch wheels and a panoramic glass roof. The infotainment system runs on a Qualcomm “Snapdragon 8295P” processor, while the driver assistance systems use a “Snapdragon 8650”. A lidar sensor is also included, as well as an interesting feature: six blue exterior lights indicate to other road users that the driver assistance systems are active.

This feature may only be available in certain markets depending on regulatory requirements, as the A10 will also be offered outside China. In a separate announcement, Stellantis, the international distribution partner and joint-venture partner in Leapmotor International, confirms that the model will be marketed outside China as the B03X. This aligns with Stellantis’ slightly different segment classification: in Europe, a 4.31-metre-long car would not fall under the A segment but is clearly positioned in the B segment.

Leapmotor is currently expanding its model range significantly. At the IAA Mobility in September, Leapmotor presented the B05, an electric compact car sold in China as the Lafa 5. Since that model launched for pre-sale in China from 105,800 yuan, the A10/B03X is indeed likely to start below 100,000 yuan. In October, the company also unveiled the 440 kW all-wheel-drive version of the C10 and introduced the new flagship D19 SUV for the Chinese market.
