Believ to deliver 470 new charge points in North Lincolnshire

The British charging point operator Believ has been selected by North Lincolnshire Council to deliver hundreds of EV charge points over the next few years. The installations will focus on "a mixture of fast and rapid chargers".

Believ will install the chargers over the coming years across urban, rural, and residential areas based on user demand. North Lincs council said that the project is designed to improve charging access to the 1 in 4 households locally that lack off-street parking. 16 of the chargers will be ‘rapid’ or ‘ultra-rapid’ and located in “key car parks” across North Lincolnshire; no detailed information on power or location has yet been provided.

Believe secured the contract following what North Lincs calls a ‘competitive’ tender process: “Believ stood out for its ability to deliver competitively priced tariffs across all charging speeds, providing affordable access and contactless payment options that enhance the overall charging experience.”

Cllr David Rose, who holds the portfolio for environment and strategy at North Lincs Council, said: To deliver the next phase of our Charging Ahead project, to install more electric charging points in North Lincolnshire, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Believ.” He added: “We are committed to supporting residents make cleaner, greener transport options and part of that is making the right infrastructure available in local communities. Not everyone has the option of off-street parking, which is why a high number of chargers will be located in these residential areas.”

Earlier this year, Believ closed an investment round worth £300 million – and in March, it closed a deal to take over Switch EV, a charge point management software company. It has since signed similar agreements with other councils (such as Brighton and Hove) to delivery new EV charging infrastructure elsewhere in the UK.
