ChargePoint opens new fast charging hub in Michigan
Details on the Canton charging hub itself remain thin, besides a few general details. Like other Chargepoint x Dabaja charging hubs, it will feature Express Plus fast charging stations and will be managed using the new ChargePoint Platform system. Exact technical specifications haven’t been shared; however, the Express Plus typically features a modular DC fast charging system that can house up to five Power Modules, or up to 500 kW to a single charging port. ChargePoint has also stated that Express Plus “can simultaneously charge two vehicles at one time from the same charging station.”
What ChargePoint seems keen to publicise, however, is that the Canton hub is the first stage of a larger partnership between itself and Dabaja Brothers Development Group, to give them their full name. Dabaja Brothers are a property developers’ group based in Detroit which now plans to deploy an initial 40 EV charging ports at its properties. Additional sites are already planned in Dearborn and Lavonia – both in Michigan – with more on the way. The company has said it wants to enable EV drivers “to charge quickly and easily while they shop, dine, or visit local attractions”.
Yousef Dabaja, Owner / Operator at Dabaja Brothers Development Group, said: “We started this project because we saw a gap in our community – there was almost nowhere to charge an EV in Canton, and a similar lack of charging across metro Detroit. Together with ChargePoint, we are bringing fast, reliable charging to the community, better enabling us to serve all of our customers.”
