Electrify America grows fast charging network with real estate firm Simon
To recap: Electrify America’s so-called ‘Hyper-Fast’ chargers are capable of charging speeds up to 350 kW, enabling charging sessions of as little as 20 minutes. Additionally, the charging stations support the Plug & Charge standard, removing the need for payment via an app or a charging card.
Simon itself owns more than 250 retail properties worldwide, including 114 shopping malls, 108 premium outlets, and a number of other smaller sites. Through this partnership, Electrify America has been given access to these retail locations in order to install and operate charging hubs. That means the charging hubs are fairly well-equipped; 500 individual charging towers are situated across 105 charging hubs, all located at busy shopping hubs.
Electrify America cites one example of these ‘large-format’ charging hubs: its site at Simon’s Fashion Valley in San Diego, CA, which features 20 of its Hyper-Fast chargers. Anthony Lambkin, VP of operations at Electrify America, said: “By placing Hyper-Fast charging at premier retail destinations, we’re making it easier for EV drivers to charge where life happens while supporting the transition to electric mobility.” Simon VP of business development Daniel Segal added: “Working with Electrify America allows us to provide visitors the convenience of Hyper-Fast EV charging in locations where they can shop, dine, and recharge in one visit.”
