Zest to deliver new rapid charging in Hounslow

The UK charging point operator Zest has been selected to install and operate new EV fast charging infrastructure in the London Borough of Hounslow. It's part of a wider plan to install 2000 new charging points across the borough.

Zest will work on expanding Hounslow’s existing rapid charging infrastructure around 100 parking spaces which have already been identified as rapid charging spots. There’s no details yet on which hardware will be installed, with both parties only stating that ‘each Zest charge point will feature the latest technology, high-speed charging capability, contactless and app-based payment options and 24/7 customer support’.

Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, explained that the new chargers will ‘enable residents, visitors and local businesses to charge their vehicles quickly and conveniently, making it easier to switch to EV’. Heap added: “Hounslow Council is backing its ambitious strategy with bold action, and we are proud they chose to work with Zest.”

That ‘ambitious strategy’ has been in the works for a few years, and has seen the Council work towards its goal of installing more than 2000 charge points across the borough. First announced in 2022, this initiative had a deadline of 2026, although it’s not clear how close Hounslow Council is now to reaching this goal.

Cllr Katherine Dunne, Hounslow’s Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Transport, simply said: “Expanding our EV network is a key part of building a cleaner, greener borough. By working with industry partners, we’re ensuring residents have convenient, reliable and affordable options for charging close to home and across Hounslow.”
