Assembly error: Rivian to recall 20,000 EV for workshop repairs

Rivian is recalling nearly 20,000 units of its R1S and R1T models from the 2022 to 2025 production years in the US after they were previously serviced. According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the tie rod may have been incorrectly installed.

This recall affects 19,641 units of Rivian’s two premium models, which are currently available only in the USA. These vehicles are being recalled to workshops to have their rear toe link bolts replaced at Rivian’s expense. According to the NHTSA, the recall follows a single publicly reported accident involving minor injuries, which was linked to the toe link issue.

For Rivian, this is the second recall in the US in just a few weeks. In early December 2025, nearly 35,000 of the manufacturer’s electric delivery vans had to be inspected to rule out issues with the seatbelts.
