Monta integrates AI functions into its charging platform
Monta describes itself as the ‘leading platform connecting the dots in the EV charging ecosystem.’ Based in Copenhagen, the company provides software solutions for all aspects of charging technology, including a fully equipped invoicing and payment platform, as well as tools for managing and controlling private charging stations. It currently supports over 600 hardware models. Additionally, providers using Monta can grant their customers access to Monta’s roaming network, which now includes over 1.3 million charging points.
With Monta AI, the Danish company is now making the benefits of artificial intelligence available to its customers. The newly introduced AI layer of the charging platform continuously analyses operational data—from charging sessions and firmware to payments, energy, and support. It ‘spots issues, recommends actions,’ Monta explains. Furthermore, operators can interact with Monta AI in plain language to receive immediately actionable insights.
According to Monta, the core idea behind the new feature is that charging infrastructure is reaching new limits as electric vehicles become more widespread—not in terms of hardware deployment, but in operations. “As networks grow three, five, or tenfold, this operating model becomes costly, slow, and fragile, making it impossible to deliver the level of reliability expected of critical infrastructure.” In practice, the new functions are designed to address these challenges through AI-driven pricing, data-based decisions for site expansion, faster on-site fault resolution, and proactive energy management.
“The real opportunity with AI isn’t just doing existing tasks faster. It’s removing operational constraints that have limited how charging networks can scale. Today, operators are expected to deliver near-perfect reliability while managing exponentially more hardware, data, and complexity with the same-sized teams,” said Casper Rasmussen, CEO and Co-Founder of Monta. “Monta AI shifts that burden from people to software by continuously understanding what’s happening across the network and proactively surfacing the actions that will have the biggest impact.”
