The lobbying battle by parts of the automotive industry against the EU’s climate targets seems to be having little effect. Just ahead of the EU car summit this Friday, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has made it clear that she intends to stick to the so-called combustion engine phase-out from 2035. Electric mobility is on track, and consistent implementation across Europe remains essential. This can be read in a draft concept paper by the EU Commission.
