Power sector accelerating e-mobility: Can utilities turn EVs into a grid asset?
Summary
A new study published by Eurelectric, the European electricity industry association, predicts that there will be 130 million electric vehicles on European roads by 2035, up from 3.3 million today. By then, 65 million charging stations would need to be installed, 85 per cent of these at residential areas. The existing electricity grid will be able to cope with the transition to electric vehicles, but it will need forward planning and coordination to ensure it can handle future peaks in energy demand and increased loads, the association said.
