Total cost of ownership for tractor-trailers in Europe: Battery electric versus diesel
Summary
A new ICCT study analyses the total cost of ownership of long-distance battery-electric tractor units in the seven European countries that accounted for more than 75 per cent of EU truck sales in 2019: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands and the UK. The analysis shows that electric trucks can achieve TCO parity with diesel trucks this decade in all countries considered, even without additional policy support. However, there are significant differences between the countries.
