Battery electric tractor-trailers in the European Union: A vehicle technology analysis
Summary
The ICCT has published a vehicle technology analysis for battery-electric long-haul semitrailer tractors with a focus on quantifying energy efficiency and range under typical operating conditions. According to this analysis, 1,000 kWh of battery capacity is required today for a range of 500 km under typical operating profiles. Thanks to improvements in battery energy density, among other things, 500 km range could be achieved in the future with much smaller batteries (around 700 kWh).
