Study

Evaluating electric vehicle costs and benefits in China in the 2020–2035 time frame

Summary

In the following study, the ICCT uses the best available data on the costs of batteries and vehicle components to forecast the development of the costs of electric cars in China up to 2035. According to this study, price parity between e-cars with a range of 300 to 400 km and combustion engines in terms of acquisition costs is likely to be reached in China between 2026 and 2029, for e-cars with a shorter range (250 km) as early as 2025 and for e-cars with a longer range (500 km) only in 2030 or later.
