Valmet to add battery plant to 2nd Finnish facility

Valmet Automotive has announced to expand its car plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland, into a battery factory. Besides Salo, Uusikaupunki will become Valmet Automotive’s second plant with mass production of battery systems for electric vehicles.

LG Chem completes battery spin-off

LG Chem has now officially completed the spin-off of its battery division. The new company is apparently also going to significantly increase the production of battery cells for Tesla, which will include Giga Berlin in Germany.

VW transports batteries to Zwickau by train

According to Volkswagen, “green battery logistics” have been put into operation for the MEB plant in Zwickau. Transporting the batteries by rail is expected to save around 11,000 tons of CO2 per year compared to truck transport.

SVOLT to build German battery factory in Saarland

The Chinese battery cell manufacturer SVOLT will build its European battery cell factory in the German state of Saarland. The cell factory itself is to be built in Überherrn, and an assembly of modules and packs in Heusweiler. Cell production is scheduled to start at the end of 2023.
