CATL announces new battery plant in Shanghai

The rumour that battery cell manufacturer CATL wants to build a new factory in the immediate vicinity of the Tesla plant in Shanghai is confirmed. CATL has now officially announced that it has signed a framework agreement to this effect with the Shanghai municipal government.

GAC Honda to build new plant with 120,000 annual capacity

The Chinese joint venture GAC Honda wants to increase its production capacities for electric cars and plug-in hybrids by 120,000 vehicles per year with the construction of a new plant. Construction is scheduled to begin in October this year and be completed in 2024.

Gotion to build lithium carbonate plants in China

Volkswagen’s battery partner Gotion High-Tech is aiming to build two factories in the southern Chinese province of Jiangxi to produce a total of 100,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year. The first phase, with 20,000 tonnes of annual capacity at each of the two sites, is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.

Schaeffler kickstarts e-axle production in China

Schaeffler has started series production of its so-called 2in1 E-axle in Taicang, China. The first Chinese car equipped with this product will be launched shortly. After the market launch in China, the axle will also be used by a European OEM, according to Schaeffler.
