Sono Motors gives the Sion a 54-kWh LFP battery
The German startup Sono Motors is significantly upgrading its Sion solar electric car. Instead of the previously planned 35 kWh battery capacity, the Sion will get a 54 kWh battery with LFP technology. The solar electric car’s price of 25,500 euros (including German VAT) is to remain unchanged.
Piëch Automotive attracts prominent executives
The Swiss electric car startup Piëch Automotive is getting some prominent reinforcement with executives from Porsche, BMW and Tesla. The former Volkswagen Group boss Matthias Müller will become chairperson of the company’s supervisory board.

Škoda electric Enyaq to come in 5 variants
Škoda has now announced technical details for the first purely electric production model based on MEB; the Enyaq SUV. Five different performance variants (three with rear-wheel drive and two with four-wheel drive) and three battery sizes will be available.
Polestart teases more details regarding Precept
At the end of February, Polestar presented the Precept, as a preview of future electric models. More details were to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but since the car show was cancelled, Polestar has now revealed slightly more about the company’s design direction with the Precept.

Citroën to present Ami One urban concept
At the Geneva Motor Show, Citroën will be presenting the Ami One concept, a fully electric two-seater for urban mobility. The concept was developed as an alternative to public transit and two-wheeled vehicles such as bikes or scooters.
Rivian follows through in LA with powerful eSUV
After revealing its electric pickup R1T yesterday, U.S. startup Rivian raises the game with its fully electric SUV R1S, which will be offered as a 5 and 7-seater. Prices start at 72,500 U.S. dollars (before subsidies), and the EV will be available by late 2020.
UK: Hyper car Dendrobium racing ahead
The British hyper car that had seen the spotlight last year in Geneva is gearing up for production. A new company called Dendrobium Automotive has been set up to follow on from Vanda Electrics. The Dendrobium is being developed with Williams Advanced Engineering.
Pininfarina presents H500 and E-SUV K350 in Beijing
Pininfarina and the Hybrid Kinetic Group have presented two more jointly developed concept cars at the Beijing Motor Show. As previous studies, the two new concepts, a SUV and a sedan, combine their electric drives with a micro turbine range extender.

Aiways is another new EV startup from China ready to set up shop. The company also has a branch in Germany however, initiated by Roland Gumpert, who is their head of product and doubles as lead for their operations in Germany.

Hyundai is advancing its luxury label Genesis to an increasingly electric brand. Visitors of the New York Motor Show that starts this week, will see a concept electric car that builds on a dedicated platform which is to inform all other Genesis models.
Tata Motors shows electric sedan concept EVision
Tata Motors brought its EVision concept to Geneva, a prototype of an electric-powered sedan, featuring two motors and promising a range of not less than 450 km. A serial version of the sedan could roll off the production lines by 2020.
Hyundai attracts attention with Kite concept car
At the Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai has revealed its newest concept car: the Kite. It has neither doors or windows, nor a roof, but is an all-terrain vehicle for two people, that can be quickly and easily converted into a jet ski with a single seat.
