PSA sold 120,000 electrified models throughout 2020

The PSA Group recorded around 120,000 new registrations for electrified models in 2020, one reason it met the European CO2 targets. At the same time, the French company’s total sales slumped 27.8% to 2.51 million cars in the crisis year compared to 2019.

German carmakers increase electric car sales

German carmakers Porsche, Audi, VW and the BMW Group, have published sales figures for 2020. Although overall sales declined, their sales of electric cars and plug-in hybrids still saw a significant increase. In some cases, these now account for a double-digit share of total sales.

EV sales in China increase as 2020 ends

China’s largest electric car manufacturers have released their December 2020 sales figures, taking stock of the year as a whole. Towards the end of 2020, BYD and WM Motor both made gains, as did Nio and Xpeng Motors. The latter duo posted new sales records for December.

China marks strong NEV sales in November

According to the China Passenger Car Association, around 169,000 New Energy Vehicles (BEVs, PHEVs and FCEVs) were sold in China in November, 136.5 per cent more than in the same month last year. Most electric vehicles sold last month were SAIC GM Wuling (SGMW), BYD and Tesla.

Germany marks record electric car sales

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), 21,188 electric cars were newly registered in Germany in September, which marks a new record. This was 5,112 more than in August (16,076). Electric cars and plug-in hybrids together reached a market share of around 15% for the first time.

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), exactly 16,798 electric cars were newly registered in Germany in July – a new record. This was 8,679 more than in June (8,119). Compared to the same month last year, this segment recorded an increase of 181.7 per cent!

In China, 55,829 battery-electric cars and 14,370 plug-in hybrids from local production were sold in May. The sales figures for so-called New Energy Vehicles were thus 25.8 per cent lower than in the same month last year, but 19.5 per cent higher than in April 2020.
