MAN Truck & Bus reveal articulated electric bus details

MAN Truck & Bus is now giving details of its MAN Lion’s City 18 E articulated electric bus. The manufacturer has just announced that sales of the new model already started and in Cologne and Barcelona, the articulated e-bus is now also being integrated into regular service.

BYD to launch in Europe this year

BYD plans to start selling electric cars in Europe in 2020. Not surprisingly, the Chinese manufacturer has chosen Norway as its entry market, where BYD will initially launch with the all-electric SUV Tang EV600.

BYD & Hino to cooperate on electric utility vehicles

BYD and Toyota’s commercial vehicle subsidiary Hino Motors have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the field of electric vehicles. The agreement initially provides for the joint development of BEV commercial vehicles and will later extend to other areas such as sales.

EU electric utility vehicle registrations on the rise

ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, has published the registration figures in the EU for buses, trucks (from 3.5 tonnes) and vans in 2019 by type of drive. While the figures for buses and trucks have more than doubled, the electric vehicle segment has grown much more slowly.

Daimler & Volvo join on truck and bus fuel cells

Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group intend to establish a joint venture to develop and build fuel cells for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Although the letter of intent just signed is non-binding, a final agreement is expected to be concluded by the end of the year.

The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is calling for binding targets for charging infrastructure for zero-emission trucks. They released new data on the number of charging points and H2 re-filling stations required to meet the EU’s 2025 and 2030 CO2 targets for heavy-duty vehicles.

Nikola Tre to build electric trucks at Iveco in Germany

Iveco-owner CNH Industrial and Nikola Motor will build the Nikola Tre in battery-electric and fuel cell version at the Iveco plant in Ulm, Germany. The first e-trucks to go into production from 2021 are the battery-electric 4×2 and 6×2 vehicles. The fuel cell version is planned for 2023.
