USA: Volvo Trucks receives major e-truck order from QCD

Volvo Trucks North America has received its largest electric truck order to date. Customer Quality Custom Distribution (QCD), a national foodservice logistics supplier, will deploy 14 Volvo electric trucks in Southern California over the next two years.

California to fund e-truck charging infrastructure

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has approved the first project looking into charging infrastructure for zero-emission trucks, buses, and equipment. The plan is to use what CEC calls a “concierge model” to help applicants plan and fund e-truck chargers through EnergIIZE.

Bosch has founded the joint venture Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain Systems with the commercial vehicle manufacturer Qingling Motors in Chongqing, China. The new company will develop, assemble and market fuel cell systems for the Chinese market.

Ekoenergetyka is working on a new series of charging stations for electric commercial vehicles that offer power outputs between 750 kW and 1.5 MW. 22 of these new ‘Ultrachargers’ from the Polish charging infrastructure specialist are to be introduced initially at test locations in Germany and Poland by the end of 2023.

Great Wall Motor to launch hydrogen SUV & truck

Great Wall Motor has announced that it will launch its first hydrogen-powered SUV model and 100 FC heavy-duty trucks in 2021. GWM also plans to contribute a hydrogen-powered passenger car fleet to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

10 Tesla Semi and 2 Megachargers ordered by MHX

MHX a leasing and logistics firm in California has been awarded a $1.9 million grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) to purchase 10 Tesla Semis and two Megachargers. MHX has also been awarded a separate $560,000 grant from MSRC to deploy two overhead electric cranes for electric forklifts.

Lion Electric has received a purchase order from Pride Group Enterprises for the acquisition of 100 all-electric Lion6 and Lion8 trucks. The Canadian company says this order represents Lion’s largest single order of zero-emission trucks to date.

Project eHaul examines robot battery-swapping for trucks

In a three-year project called eHaul, a German consortium of business and science is dedicated to developing an automated battery-swapping station for heavy electric trucks. Among others, the TU Berlin, the Fraunhofer IVI and Bosch are involved in the project.
