EDF founds hydrogen subsidiary Hynamics

The French energy supplier Électricité de France (EDF) is pushing ahead with its hydrogen efforts. At the Hanover Fair, the Paris-based company announced the establishment of a new subsidiary called Hynamics. Its aim is to make EDF a major player in the global H2 sector.

Coup boosts big city fleets by 500 electric scooters each

For the incoming start of the 2019 electric scooter season, the German sharing provider Coup is opening the service to more users. Also, a total of 1,500 additional electric scooters will be on the roads in Berlin, Paris and Madrid – a 40 % boost from before.

Hydrogen JV HysetCo launches in Paris region

Air Liquide, Idex, Société du Taxi Électrique Parisien (STEP) and Toyota have launched a joint venture called HysetCo to develop hydrogen mobility in the Paris region. It will also serve Hype, the fleet of fuel cell taxis, launched in 2015 during the COP21 and operated in Paris.

Car2Go launches 400 strong electric car fleet in Paris

The car sharing market in Paris has seen a turbulent last year. Since Bolloré’s pioneering Autolib had to declare bankruptcy, other carmakers rushed to replace the service. Daimler’s Car2Go now delivered well on schedule and launched 400 electric Smart ED to free-float across the French capital.

Paris: PSA will also launch electric car sharing service

After Renault, PSA will now also set up an electric vehicle sharing fleet to replace to EV sharing programme Autolib in Paris. Under the Free2Move brand, the company will launch a fleet of 550 Peugeot iOn and Citroën C-Zero electric vehicles on the 3rd of December for short term rentals.

Paris to ban older diesels in summer 2019

The Metropole du Grand Paris council has decided to ban older diesel vehicles registered before the end of 2000 from the area within the A86 ring road. The area is home to some 5.6 million inhabitants and includes Paris and 79 municipalities.

Paris to launch world’s largest electric bicycle fleet

The greater Paris area will be launching a state-funded initiative to move commuters from driving cars and switch to electric bicycles. Starting in September 2019, Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) will set up 10,000 e-bikes for long-term rental, with an option to expand to 20,000, which would make it the world’s largest e-bike rental programme.

Paris grants permission for launch of LEVC’s black cab

Geely-owned London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) will bring its electric taxi with range extender to Paris. A permit for the black cab has now been granted by the Paris authorities. The French capital is expected to receive the model called TX in the first half of 2019.

Bolloré to scrap half their Autolib fleet

After the city of Paris decided not to continue the car-sharing program Autolib by Bolloré a month ago, the service was officially shut down on July 31. The 4,000 electrified vehicles will now disappear from Paris’s streets.

Paris: H2 taxi fleet grows to 100 vehicles

The Société du Taxi Electrique Parisien (STEP) in Paris has expanded their fuel cell vehicle fleet with another 25 Toyota Mirai to total 100 FCEVs. By the end of 2020, the expansion of the Hype fleet is planned to total 600 vehicles.

Over 2,000 additional electric scooters are headed for Paris as Govecs helps Cityscoot to grow their sharing fleet. Cityscoot will take delivery of over 2,750 new electric scooters and has also expanded to Nice. Govecs deployed over 10,000 e-scooters across Europe to date.

Engie fits 50 Kangoo Z.E. with fuel cells

The energy provider Engie has fitted a fleet of 50 Kangoo Z.E. with fuel cell range extenders from Symbio, in Rungis, near Paris, for their employees. A hydrogen fuel station was also installed at the location.

Chronopost orders 100 e-transporters from Voltia

The french parcel service Chronopost, who belongs to the DPD Group, has ordered 100 electric transporters from the Slovak Voltia. The acquisition is part of Chronopost’s plan to eventually deliver packages in Paris on a completely electrical basis.

Flixbus launches first long-distance electric bus route in France

Munich-based bus operator Flixbus has entered the electric age in France yesterday, as it launched two electric buses that will go the long distance. The coach service runs between Paris and the city of Amiens and electrive.com was live at the launch event in Paris, just at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
