German H2 initiative: 13 partners from politics, industry and academics are working on the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Initiative Germany that wants to see comprehensive implementation of H2 filling stations across the country. A face to the scheme is German actor and activist Hannes Jaenicke.

Electric shuttles for U.S. airports: California-based fleet specialist Phoenix Motorcar received an order for 50 of its Zero Emissions Utility Shuttles (ZEUS). The 14-seater will be used for passenger transport at the airports in Los Angeles, San Diego and Atlanta.

Atlanta plugs in: Vision Fleet has delivered the first five of 50 PHEVs to the U.S. city. The vehicles will be used by city officials that aim to cut vehicle emissions by 20 percent by 2020.Vison Fleet succesfully implemented a similar model in Indianapolis two years ago.

India bets on electrification: Himachal Pradesh state will not only purchase 25 all-electric buses (we reported), but also 50 smaller electric cars. The government will fund 75 percent of the buses and even 90% of the latter. Moreover, it was decided to double registration fees for diesel cars from next year, while EVs are exempt from paying any.

Destinations Chargers for Destination Hotels: Tesla has signed on another hotel chain as partner for the installation of its Destination Chargers in the United States. The name definitely seems a fit, as it is called Destination Hotels.

Freedom Fleet: The electrification of Indianapolis’ communal fleet is back on track as Vision Fleet wins back its initial contract to replace 425 gas guzzlers with plug-in hybrids and electric cars. 212 vehicles had already been deployed before a lawsuit over procurement procedures delayed the project. The new contract runs over four years but does not specify a number of cars to be leased anymore.

Uber China electric? The Chinese branch of the app-based cab service has found a new investor in Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). While the investment is undisclosed, the cooperation will have a “particular emphasis on promoting new energy vehicles,” Uber China announced.

Mahindra Reva is taking matters into its own hands, installing 120 EV charging stations in Indian Bangalore. 20 are capable of fast-charging. The Indian carmaker says the government being too slow and that for EVs to be accepted, infrastructure has to come first.

Electric mail delivery: The Cayman Islands’ government uses its first electric car to deliver packages. The Nissan e-NV200 will drive from George Town airport to the city centre and is to prove its value in a pilot throughout 2016. The island has eight EV charging stations.
