Polestar is eyeing Tesla closely

Volvo has imported a Tesla Model Y from the USA and registered it in Sweden to take a closer look. Volvo had already brought one of the then new Tesla Model 3 to Sweden in 2018 – and now, as is well known, offers a competitor for the Model 3 under its EV brand Polestar.

Daimler & Volvo join on truck and bus fuel cells

Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group intend to establish a joint venture to develop and build fuel cells for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Although the letter of intent just signed is non-binding, a final agreement is expected to be concluded by the end of the year.

Volvo XC40 Recharge electric car goes on sale in UK

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is now on sale in the UK for £53,155. Volvo’s first all-electric car will arrive at dealers in late 2020. The XC40 is not eligible for the £3,000 Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG) because it costs more than £50,000.

Volvo launches battery assembly in Ghent

Volvo Cars has inaugurated a battery assembly line at its Belgian production site in Ghent. Batteries for the XC40 Recharge P8 will start rolling off assembly lines at the Ghent plant from March, while the production of the first electric Volvo is also scheduled to start in Ghent in the autumn.
