As it moves toward becoming a fully electric car maker by 2030, Volvo Cars is turning its app into a “one-stop-shop” for drivers of Volvo Recharge vehicles. The new version integrates charging functions and payment options that Volvo has added through recent partnerships.

Volvo Trucks opens battery factory in Belgium
Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo Trucks has opened its first battery assembly plant in Ghent, Belgium. There, cells and modules from Samsung SDI are assembled into customised battery packs for the FH, FM and FMX heavy-duty electric truck series.

Volvo Cars has invested in the Israeli battery developer StoreDot. The two companies have not disclosed the amount of the strategic investment. Previous investors in StoreDot include Daimler, Samsung, BP, VinFast and Ola Electric.

Volvo Cars & Starbucks open EV charging corridor
Volvo Car USA and Starbucks want to establish a public EV charging network at Starbucks stores beginning this summer. The chargers will come through ChargePoint and bear Volvo branding. So far, the partners have designated 15 Starbucks locations and want to distribute 60 DC chargers.

Redwood Materials sources batteries from Ford & Volvo
Redwood Materials, founded by ex-Tesla CTO JB Straubel, has launched a recycling programme for electric and hybrid vehicle batteries in California. Ford and Volvo Cars are the first car manufacturers to support the programme with their batteries. Redwood is also calling on other manufacturers to join the programme.

Polestar launches the Polestar 2 in South Korea
Polestar is now launching its Polestar 2 on the South Korean market. Prices for the electric sedan start at 54.9 million won for the single-engine version and 57.9 million won for the dual-engine variant. Orders are available now and deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-March.

Ferronordic orders 32 electric trucks

COP26: 30 nations & 11 carmakers want to exit combustion transit
