Northvolt cells will power electric Volvo XC60 successor
The successor to the Volvo XC60 set for 2024 will be the first series EV model to use battery cells from the joint venture between Volvo and Northvolt. The conventional SUV has been the Swedish brand’s best-selling car running for the past four years.

Volvo extends electric range of their PHEV lineup
Volvo has upgraded the plug-in hybrid powertrains of the large SPA platform. In the Recharge models of the 60 and 90 series, not only is the electric range expected to increase to up to 90 kilometres, but the system performance has also been increased somewhat.

Volvo goes for better PHEVs and mild hybrids
Volvo presents improved and newly developed plug-in hybrid drives that will be used in the entire model range. This means that Volvo has expanded its production capacities so that 25 % of total production will now be concerned with PHEVs. Mild hybrids will also be introduced in the coming months.

New labels for Volvo XC60 suggest EV versions
Volvo has trademarked the XC60 B4 AWD and XC60 B5 AWD names, suggesting they are planning to issue two all-electric variants of the XC60 and an all-wheel drive. For the XC40, Volvo recently confirmed an EV version.
