Energy under control: Swiss company Alpiq presents GridSense, a technology that can be installed in various electrical devices, such as an EV charging station, for example. With help of an algorithm, it learns a user’s behaviour in regards to that equipment and is therefore able to send available energy there, where it’s needed.

Storage cables: Researchers at the University of Central Florida are working on a nanotechnology, where cables would not only be used to transport energy, but also to store it. The solution would also prove handy for electric vehicles, giving them extra storage capacity without adding any weight or needing more room for a bigger battery.

Italian-French alliance: Together the Italian electric motor specialist Mavel and the French Institute for Petrol and New Energies (IFPEN) want to develop systems for the recuperation of thermal energy, for the generation of energy using micro turbines, as well as drivetrains for electric and hybrid vehicles.
