The former Head of R&D at GM and now a professor at Michigan University has his own theory on why fuel cell technology has not yet taken off. It is because of its name, which he believes is too far from ordinary people’s reality and too close to combustion engines. He thus proposes to call them ‘hydrogen battery’ instead.
