Electric touring motorcycle: Students at the TU Eindhoven are developing an electric motorcycle that features 28 removable battery modules. Together, they form a pack with 28.5 kW capacity, said to last for almost 400 kilometres. At the Hanover Fair a first dummy of the Storm Eindhoven has been presented and the bike is to compete in an 80-day race around the world – if partners and sponsors can be found.
Battery joining: The Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT has developed a new laser welding technology for battery cells that is now ready for series production. The method is called oscillation laser welding and the researchers are now working with others to put together a complete battery pack.
Electric paddleboard: On Kickstarter, SipaBoards is looking for backers for its self-inflating and self-propelling electric standup paddleboard. It is said to be ready within a few minutes and helps you paddling upstream even. The battery lasts for about three hours.
