High efficiency through SiC: Researchers at the Fraunhofer ISE have developed a highly compact and efficient inverter containing innovative silicon carbide (SiC) components for the use in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The demonstrator achieved an efficiency of 98.7 percent; around five times higher than conventional power electronic silicon components.
