Foldable motorcycle: SFM Bike presents the electric version of its Sachs MadAss, called the Saxxx MadAss E. Its 1.5 kW electric motor and 960 Wh Li-ion battery allow for a maximum speed of 45 kph and 50 km range. Moreover, the bike can be folded up for easy storage.
Next-generation e-bike concept: Bike manufacturer Specialized ditched UCI rules on what a bicycle should look like, creating a flashy new concept with the telling name fUCI. The e-bike has a concealed motor in the bottom bracket shell, and comes with smartphone integration technology and break lights.
Autonomous ride to class: Start-up Auro Robotics will test its driverless electric golf cart on the campus of Santa Clara University in Northern California this autumn. The cart goes up to 10 mph and can detect pedestrians up to 200 m ahead. Tests will run for three months.
High efficiency through SiC: Researchers at the Fraunhofer ISE have developed a highly compact and efficient inverter containing innovative silicon carbide (SiC) components for the use in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The demonstrator achieved an efficiency of 98.7 percent; around five times higher than conventional power electronic silicon components.
