Budapest presents the first of a total of 36 trolleybuses built by Skoda and Solaris, which are able to operate without connecting to the catenary. Delivery will be completed this year, and the city has the option to order another 72 trolleybuses. The contract is worth almost 22m dollars.

Bid for greener buses: The British government launched a 5-million pound (7.7m dollar) fund to cut down on NOx emissions. Local authorities are asked to bid to get therir share of the Clean Bus Technology Fund of up to 500,000 pounds to retrofit their buses. Applications are open until the end of October.

Laotian electric bus project: Laos’ province Luang Prabang is embarking on a project to deploy 34 electric mini buses, of which 14 were granted by the Japanese government. They are made for six people from Lao – foreigners are said to reduce capacity to three to four persons.
