Tesla makes money selling CO2 emissions credits.

Tesla made 410.7m dollars in 2013 and 2014 from sales of greenhouse gas emissions credits to Fiat Chrysler, Reuters reports. The Italians also bought credits from Toyota and Honda to meet emission regulation standards.
