U.S. promotes electric drivetrains: The U.S. Department of Energy earmarked 56m dollars for grants for vehicle technology in January. The money will be used to i.e. promote research and development of battery technologies, power electronics and electric motors.

Better supercaps: Using nitrogen and graphene-like carbon, Chinese researchers have developed a super capacitor said to knock current technology out of the water. It is supposed to enable electric cars to charge enough kWh for 35 km in just seven seconds.
