Dutch EV efforts: Amsterdam has commissioned EV Box and Nuon-Heijmans to expand charging infrastructure in the city. 4,000 EV charge points are to be erected there by 2018, with 1,500 already in existence. EV Box is looking to enter Belgium and Luxembourg next, as EV-Box BeLux bvba.

Electric scooter sharing: Paris will see the introduction of a 1,000 electric scooters in its vicinity this year after testing was successful. The first wave of 500 scooters will arrive in June, with another 500 to follow in September. The electric two-wheelers are operated by Cityscoot and cost 3 euros per 15 minutes.

Last miles marriage: British Brompton Bicycles teamed up with Nissan to offer its employees the Leaf via a company scheme. The folding bike fits neatly in the EV’s trunk and the company is looking to erect charging stations on its London premises. Brompton is still working on its own electric offering.

Compact mobility: Toyota Mobility Foundation starts its first project on home soil. Okayama prefecture will get up to 50 so-called electric COMs. The compact EVs carry one passenger for about 50 km on one charge. The project is funded with 220 million yen (about 1.9m dollars) and will run until 2019.
