Jim-Lentz“We’ll have to see how well the RAV4 Hybrid does. Because the RAV4 could really take the place of the Prius V.”

Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, thinks about axing the Prius V model in the U.S. Falling gas prices have dampened sales of the hybrid model and the arrival of the RAV4 Hybrid SUV increased in-house competition.

Kevin-Layden“Battery costs are not coming down fast enough to democratise it.”

Kevin Layden, director of Ford’s electrification programmes, is worried that high costs will hinder the company’s plan to electrify 40 percent of its portfolio by 2020. Though he adds that scientists are making “gradual progress.”
