BYD made 50 percent of its profit from alternative energy vehicles last year (69,222 units sold). Moreover, 81% percent of those are plug-in hybrid passenger cars. The company’s net profit soared 553% in 2015, amounting to 2.8bn yuan (430m dollars). In 2014, alternative energy vehicles accounted for about a quarter of the profit.
