Paris, BMW E1.

Reading tip I: The Champs-Élysées will be car-free on the first Sunday of every month to combat air pollution in Paris. The initiative will start in May, but has been delayed to May 8, as May 1 is a national holiday. It is one step in the plan to ban diesel cars in the city by 2020.

Reading tip II: BMW Blog takes a look at the battery electric BMW E1 developed in the 1990s. The car included a sodium-nickle chloride battery and a range of around 150 mi. Though many see the car as a flop, BMW maintains that it was an important predecessor for the i3.
