Daimler’s research and development chief Thomas Weber added that three of the ten electric models will be Smart-branded cars, where a range of 150 km will suffice. Other (new) electric cars, however, will be able to go 600 to 700 km on one charge.

Jeffrey Guyton, head of Mazda Europe, basically says we shouldn’t get to euphoric about a recent announcement that Mazda will introduce some EVS “where it’s needed in the world” (we reported). It seems Europe is not one of those regions.

Cynthia-Giles“The ZEV investment requirement will be a business investment made by Volkswagen.”

According to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency enforcement chief Cynthia Giles, VW should see the diesel settlement and investment in ZEV projects as an opportunity to make money in the future. The company will i.e. have to install chargers across the U.S.
