“We have the [electric vehicle] technology, but if sales aren’t there, we can’t meet the standards.”
This is from a letter the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers sent to Trump. GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler want the new administration to set back EPA regulation and to restrict California’s power in putting air quality high on the agenda. Regulators oppose:
“One thing is clear: We cannot meet our goals for clean air and greenhouse reductions without near-complete electrification of the transportation sector.”
Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board warns that electrification must come. The transition however may be up for negotiation again.
