Advanced Very Rapid Transit System: A system of autonomous electric buses may come to Cambridge and the surrounding areas. The vehicles of the Advanced Very Rapid Transit System (AVRT) would drive on separate lanes at speeds of up to 190 kph in a sort of guided busway concept. This would mean people could travel rapidly into, under and across the city from villages in a matter of minutes. The concept is currently being analysed in a feasibility study by the University of Cambridge.
