Sebastian Mackensen, global head of the Mini brand, is convinced that their first EV due in 2019 will be much more than just a niche player in the brand’s portfolio. Instead he hopes it will be one of 5 “superheroes” as Mini calls its core models.

Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson here points to the Swedes part in the electric version of the iconic black cab by the London Taxi Company. The TX5 uses a plug-in electric drive train and further tech by Volvo. Both companies are owned by Geely.
