“The idea is that by 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country.”
That sounds like India’s power minister Piyush Goyal has a great idea about the country’s future. He here affirms the government’s 100% sales quota for electrified vehicles by 2030. An EV promotion programme is underway.
“So there will be a shared autonomy fleet where you buy your car and you can choose to use that car exclusively. You can choose to have it used only by friends and family, or other drivers who are rated five star. You can choose to share it sometimes but not other times. That’s 100 percent what will occur. It’s just a question of when.”
This is Elon Musk’s vision for the “Tesla Network”, the firm’s sharing platform with autonomous EVs. He believes it will ultimately be cheaper than public transport and anticipates increased traffic that may in turn drive his tunnel boring business.
