Toyota’s solid-state patent: The Japanese carmaker may be into hybrids at the moments but is advancing battery technology nonetheless as a new patent application in the U.S. shows. It is a solid-state battery with improved thermal stability through the addition of a “specific phosphate ester”, according to Toyota, that also describes various chemistry options.

The initial shape forms the core of the pilot model, at present a one seater but open to expansion for persons and purpose. No production plans are known.
