“This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car. Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1m electrified cars by 2025. When we said it we meant it. This is how we are going to do it.”
Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson made it official, the Geely-owned manufacturer will never again build a car without some sort of electric propulsion comes 2019 (also see news above). The more electric, the better, we’d say.
“We do not have the problem of ‘Made in China’ or ‘Made in Germany’. We hope to utilise global resources to provide consumers with the best products.”
Says Zhang Hui, general manager of NextEV. The firm operates a design centre with more than a 100 employers in Munich but will build its electric cars in China together with JAC. “Designed in Germany” could be the catchphrase to use.
