Former BMW chief designer Chris Bangle has presented an electric-powered mini car for the Chinese market. The 2.97m long – or rather short – EV is currently on display at the L.A. Auto Show and shall be produced by Chinese manufacturer CHTC later on.

Bangle dubbed its model Redspace and designed it to meet the requirements of car driving in Chinese mega cities. According to him, the car is not a concept but rather a mature prototype ready for serial production as it has been already crash tested and approved. The Redspace comes with a modular seat configuration with place for up to four passengers, features a large 17in infotainment screen and shall have a solar panel on the roof. Further technical data has not yet been given.
