Quebec orders 50 Lion Electric school buses

Lion Electric has received an order for 50 all-electric LionC school buses from Autobus Campeau in the province of Quebec. Deliveries are set to begin by the first quarter of 2023.

The new buses will be used on school routes in the Brownsburg-Chatham, Gatineau and Rigaud regions, which are not far from Montreal. Students will soon be able to enjoy the journey through the area famous for its beautiful natural environment without emissions.

“We’re quite pleased to continue our collaboration with Autobus Campeau. This new order is proof that the future of school transportation is electric and we’re proud to continue our collaboration with an important transportation provider like Autobus Campeau,” said Benoit Morin, Vice-President Bus Sales – Canada at Lion Electric.

Lion Electric is well known for its electric school buses, scoring a number of very large orders for school buses, not only in its home country of Canada, but also in the USA.

In May last year, Canada’s province of Québec revealed the target of electrifying most school buses by 2030. Premier François Legault said the government would invest 250 million Canadian dollars (around 169.5 million euros) over the following three years to electrify 65 per cent of the province’s school bus fleet. Soon after, Lion Electric won its largest-ever single order for electric school buses with an order of 260 LionC to First Student, a provider specialising in school transportation.
