1000 Lion Electric school buses look likely for Canada
Lion Electric has received a conditional purchase order for 1,000 all-electric LionC school buses from Student Transportation of Canada (STC). If grant conditions are fulfilled, this purchase order would allow STC to become the largest operator of zero-emission school buses in North America.
Hydro-Québec launches pilot to support school buses
In Canada, electricity utility company Hydro-Québec has launched a pilot project with Autobus Groupe Séguin to support the electrification of school buses. Several Québec-based suppliers will participate in the project, including Lion Electric, Malco Électrique and AddÉnergie.
US revives school bus electrification efforts
In the Maryland county of Montgomery, an initiative for the electric conversion of buses has been launched, marking the largest single electric school bus procurement in the USA so far. Additionally, Los Angeles has ordered 10 Lion electric school buses and California has begun installing charging stations at their schools.
Transdev Canada invests in electric school buses
Transdev Canada announced the investment of close to CAD$4.5 million in a new fleet of electric school buses with the Quebec company Lion. With a total of 31 vehicles, this move will make them the largest private operator of electric school buses in North America to date.
Electric school buses for Michigan “sponsored” by VW
The Michigan Association for Pupil Transportation has kicked off its Electric School Bus Pilot Project supported with Volkswagen settlement funds following dieselgate. The programme uses electric school buses of various makes and includes V2G testing.
Electric school bus roll-out in California
Québec-based Lion Electric and First Priority GreenFleet (FPGF) say they have completed the largest all-electric school bus deployment in North America made by a single OEM. They delivered 40 electric school buses to more than 12 districts in California.
