Vancouver wants fuel stations fitted with chargers

A policy initiated by the Canadian city of Vancouver could mean that operators of gas stations and car parks will have to pay up to 10,000 dollars per year if they do not provide charging stations for electric vehicles. Currently, only two of the 66 petrol stations in Vancouver offer charging stations.

“There would be an incentive to invest in EV charging to avoid the higher annual license fee,” staff wrote. Businesses would have to make charging stations available in 2025 to avoid the increased license fee. Currently, the cost of a business license is $263 for a gas station and $163 for parking lots.
