York struggles to put electric vehicles on the road

An independent councillor has accused the administration of the English city of York of “hiding” unused electric vehicles and showed pictures of several electric vehicles parked on a former landfill site as proof.

When asked, the city admitted that of the 39 electric vehicles in their fleet, only 13 are in use, as the expansion of the charging infrastructure is behind schedule. Councillor Coun Mark Warters criticized: “Anyone wishing to run an electric vehicle would use their common sense and ensure they had appropriate charging facilities in place before buying the vehicle.”
