Günsel: A new EV brand from Cyprus

A new electric car manufacturer named Günsel has appeared from the north of Cyprus. The manufacturer has been working on a compact electric car since 2016 – which will soon go into series production.

The Günsel B9 is a two-door compact model with 140 kW of power and a 52.6 kWh battery integrated into the vehicle floor. The range is said to be up to 350 kilometres of range. The top speed is electronically limited to 150 km/h.

The B9 was already presented a few years ago, however, it was only as a prototype. Pictures of the vehicle, which is now ready for production, show a left-hand drive car with a touchscreen at the level of the centre console.

The new EV is said to make it from zero to 100 kph in 7.7 seconds, and the battery can be charged to 80 per cent in half an hour. That is all the details the carmaker has communicated so far. The price or schedule for the market launch remain unknown.

However, what will follow the B9 is already clear – a five-door crossover named J9. According to Günsel, the latter is an all-electric model with an 85-kWh battery and a range of up to 500 kilometres. But in this case, too, the manufacturer is keeping any further details under wraps.
