Delta launches extra thin EV charger (50 kW)

Delta Electronics has launched a new DC charger in the EMEA region. The 50kW DC Wallbox is half as wide as standard chargers of this type, making it ideal for on-street installation, according to the global electronics corporation from Taiwan.

With the DC Wallbox 50kW, one hour of charging helps EVs to cover more than 200 km in range, says Delta. The company further claims a charging efficiency of 97%, and a thickness of only 25 cm, which Delta sets against competitors with wall boxes measuring 50 cm or more. “This markedly slimmer design only requires 40% of the installation space,” writes Delta before pointing out floor- and wall-mounted options for flexible installation.

Vincent Lin, Senior Director of e-Mobility & Smart Energy Solutions business development, Delta Electronics EMEA, added their new charging station was “designed to provide charging facilities where space is limited”. The company lists sites such as roadside and conventional parking lots, department stores, or commercial buildings.

Operators can choose between one or two charging guns. Delta’s DC Wallbox 50kW further features a 7-inch screen for the user interface and an RFID card reader for user authentication. It can be equipped with built-in Ethernet and wireless communication features for remote management.

Delta has not released pricing, but interested parties may email their local sales representatives in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
